This is the second of four illustrations i made for the CD cover of the forthcoming album by Arman Méliès , "Néons Blancs et Asphaltine". The package opens and let you choose one of the four images to be the cover.
I am the kind of person who will buy a cd just because I love the cover art. If the style of the art fits my taste, I often find that I enjoy the music. If I was walking through a record store, I would definately pick this album up. Nice work!
another great addition. i love the distance that your characters exude. whether they look into the distance, or move there, they're all looking to somwehere that they are not, though a home can be found right in their midst. splendid job on your sun, too.
Hehe I still like the pose and the general atmospehre this series is giving me but the image seems a bit off balance to me.
You know up here you got: the house, the sun-like structures, the title and the guy and all these elements are guiding your/my eye to the right except for the little flying guy.
It has it benefits too cause it makes you wonder whats outside the image but nevertheless I feel some emptyness on the right.
I changed the window the image is in and cropped some of the space on the right and like that it feels more natural to me. I think it also has to do with the fact the hill ends on the bottom border on the normal image and not on the right border.
But the you guy makes up for it so does the overall look of the image so I wouldn't bother to much. I'm looking forward to see the remaining two images.
hmm yeah i understand what you mean. maybe it could have been a bit better balanced indeed. but i had to face a big difficuly because i started working on these pics as a rectangle composition for the whole image but then they decided to add a circle cutting in the front cover that only makes the center circle of the picture appear when the CD box is closed. so the composition had to work for the whole rectangle and for the center circle. sometimes it may have made me do some draconian choices for the overall composition. i don't know if all i just said is very clear but maybe i'll upload a photo of the D box to show how it really looks like
